Chopped-down trees were sawn into pieces and arranged as tightly stacked, precisely cubic piles – each pile containing the wood of one tree. They stand on their former positions in the forest as silent monuments. The natural shape of the living tree has been transformed into solid stereometric uniformity. Had they not been transformed into a work of art, each of these trees would sooner or later have yielded to their destiny of being burnt for firewood. This installation shows the cycles in nature, the cultivation and utilization of nature.
