Mark Nelson, USA »White Collar Woods«
The tree-scaled French cuffs and cufflinks of White Collar Woods comment on the gentrification of the north woods, where formality, wealth and class differences are increasingly being grafted onto an older cultural system. The French cuffs symbolize an invasive species which also brings jobs and livelihood through tourism. At some point, however, making a trip to the woods similar to a trip to the opera could be as absurd as the cuffs of this installation.
